In May, we initiated a pivotal transportation survey, a testament to the active role of Ladysmith residents and the surrounding communities in shaping their transportation services. This survey was designed to pinpoint the existing gaps in our transportation services, comprehend the community’s mobility needs, and foster innovative solutions to bridge these gaps.
- The top four options for improvements that arose from respondents included:
incorporating a neighbourhood shuttle with hop-on, hop-off service - expanding safety infrastructure for cycling and scooters
- improving the reliability of the local taxi service and
- recruiting a local rideshare service
Your participation in the follow-up survey (linked below) is not just meaningful; it’s pivotal. This survey, currently in circulation, aims to delve deeper into each option’s benefits and challenges. Your input will be instrumental in shaping the future of transportation in our community.
Please participate and share this survey with others: https://srvy.pro/2W8V4HS/
The input from these surveys and other local engagements has guided our research on best practices from different communities and potential funding sources to create recommendations and an implementation plan for improving transportation in the Ladysmith area.
We will share the outcomes of this information with the community, local governments, BC Transit, local taxi services(s), the Uride rideshare program, and others to inform and collaborate on the next steps.
